Write [or Tell] Me A Story Cards

Tuesday, March 16, 2010
We've been having lots of fun with our writing. Some days we consider this date in history and use that as a writing prompt (only if it's interesting, of course). Other days we work on a theme we're learning or a character trait. And still other days we whip out our Story Cards. I L-O-V-E these cards.

Homeschool - March 002

Today's assignment was to choose five cards and make up a story. Before writing the story we use our story builder (or comprehension) tool. It's where Anna maps out the story in terms of characters, setting, main idea and title. If we are reviewing a story or using this tool for a book report we add a tab for whether or not she likes the story; why or why not?

These beautifully illustrated cards provide endless stories options:
: use as writing prompts
: have fun with round robin story telling
: tell your child a story

There are several different themes available. Woodland forest friends are a big hit with our crew but so are robots. These may end up in a certain little helper's Easter basket...
