Our first week of summer vacation was mixed with some special occasions and some good home time. We aren't quite in the groove yet but we're getting there. We had a visit from Nana which is always very special time. And our last trip to Disneyland before the summer rush. Here are a few highlights of our home time this week:
We decoupaged our sketchbooks.
Poor man's pool. At best we have a large blow up pool for the summertime. My kids love water and I hadn't set up the "pool" yet. So, what's a good WT solution? Personal tubs. One day we'll have a real pool but this will do in a pinch and they don't seem to mind.
Christopher made 20 backwards baskets in a row. Very exciting around here. So much so that the kids made a flyer announcing this feat and circled the neighborhood spreading the good news. Those lucky enough to know, signed the flyer. On that same note, Anna channeled Howard Cosell and announced play-by-play her big brother's accomplishments. In the end she was the first on the scene to interview him (with a 3 pound weight). We started writing letters to friends and family....And waiting...for...replies... The daily anticipation for the postman has certainly increased.
Our school is out a week before our neighbor friends start their vacation. So, on their last day of school we had a team effort at celebrating Happy Summer. Anna made door signs and Christopher stealthy posted them. "School's Out Scream and Shout!"
Hangman and tic tac toe were the games of choice this week.
Friday night big finish: Only in the summertime could we stay up very, very, very late playing Rockband Guitar Hero with family. It was a blast but we may be dragging a bit this weekend recovering.
One week down, a few more to go.
