My Top 5 Favorite Holiday Treats From TJs

Tuesday, November 4, 2008
Trader Joes is fantastic and is the main source for most of our food. There are certain items that are staples and there are certain items that are seasonal. Well, a few of my favorites have literally just arrived on the shelves and you must run, not walk to stock up.

1. Dark Chocolate Almond Bark: This is a totally justifiable indulgence because it is a dark chocolate bar with nuts! So healthy. No guilt. Just a little nibble each night in your bubble bath with your red wine and life is good.

2. Pepermint Joe - Joes: Exactly what you think they are but better. These can be devoured on their own, crushed with ice cream, or packaged perfectly as a hostess gift. I'm telling you, we are a mostly sugar-free house and these Joe-Joes don't count.

3. Spiced cider: This will warm the cockles of your heart with one sip. Perfect for a thermos at the park or on a picnic. Not only is it perfect as it is (no doctoring required) but it makes your home smell so cozy and great.

4. Pumpkin Butter: This really isn't like butter as much as it is a spread. It's more jam-like. This has been a great snack with graham crackers or on toast. We like most things pumpkin spice.

5. Cranberry Apple Butter: Again, not really a spread. This would be d-lish with some brie on a cracker. Great snack or appetizer for your holiday gathering. Couldn't be simpler.

I have tried to 'stock up' on these items but invariably they never make it past Valentine's Day. Maybe you have better self control.

I saw the peppermint joes yesterday at T.J and thought of you.
