Zoe Turns Three

Wednesday, October 22, 2008
With a birthday so near to Halloween a dress-up party is an obvious choice for a group of toddlers and preschoolers. And so it was this past weekend when Parker and our neighborhood family helped Zoe celebrate her third birthday. The birthday girl was a cowgirl with the most adorable get-up you ever did see.

We are all mostly barefoot out here maybe adding some flip flops on occasion, so it's hard for Zoe to keep her footwear on throughout the party, but just trust me when I tell you that her boots took this fantastic ensemble to the next level.

The party was a perfect pairing of outdoor pumpkin craft time (the kids colored baby pumpkins) and a little practice round of trick or treating around the neighborhood. For a group of youngins this is a best practice. As you probably know, they don't stay put in one area for long and they aren't interested in an organized, structured activity.

So, we took to the streets. Mom Brandy had planted baskets of treats outside of a few key houses. Much to my delight they were items like whistle straws, play doh, and funny glasses (not all candy). The venture out was enough for the kiddos to stay interested and keep moving (not to mention a good practice for the upcoming holiday).

We made it back to the house for cupcakes and presents and then we were off to nap time. A perfect party.
