My blog is supposed to be a creative outlet with eye candy, food and crafts sprinkled with a tip or two and certainly something whimsical. I am so compelled, however, to make sure everyone possible does their part to help protect our children, that I have taken to the blogosphere to enlist your help.
You may have seen or surely have heard about Oprah's show on Monday about child predators. You can go to Oprah.com to catch the highlights if you missed it.
I was literally sick to my stomach and in tears. Bless Oprah that she doesn't leave us hanging with that but channels our empathy into empowerment. This is a nonpartisan issue. It does not matter your political party or voting preference, what counts now is that we let our senators know that we need more resources dedicated to protecting our children.
Oprah's site states:
Hundreds of thousands of children are victims of sexual abuse each year. Due to the sheer lack of resources, law enforcement is unable to follow up on the majority of leads they have.
The PROTECT Our Children Act will:
1. Authorize over $320 million over the next five years in desperately needed funding for law enforcement to investigate child exploitation.
2. Mandate that child rescue be a top priority for law enforcement receiving federal funding.
3. Allocate funds for high-tech computer software that can track down Internet predators.

Act Now!
It can't more simple. Just go here. Everything you need to do is simply detailed as well as more resources if you feel you would like to research the issue more.
I sent my letters off to my senators. It took five minutes. Please take five to write yours.

I can confirm that this takes less than 5 minutes and I feel so much better doing it. It feels good to send something directly to Sens. Boxer and Feinsten!
Done.
Thank you, ladies. The mom army has been mobilized!
Sent Dianne the letter.
