Bento Lunches

Thursday, July 10, 2008
I am in the market for some good bento boxes for the kids (that's another post). In the meantime I have come across some very inspiring lunches. Even Parker with his gluten-free diet might not have his typical case of food envy with these presentations. As adorable as they are, I think it's doable and won't take the entire morning to prepare.

Check out Wendolonia for some great ideas. She's got a great blog with good photos of her son's lunches as well as helpful tips and resources. If you want to take it up a notch and go vegan check out Vegan Lunch Box. Both chronicle their kids lunches and have good pictures (and even a cookbook if you want) to go along. You may also like Lunch in a Box.

It gave me some fire for better lunches. Now, to maintain that until school starts.
This is just what I needed for some new ideas for my budding foodies. Bonus: reducing our waste.

I'm on board. I want to order those adorable boxes. I love the silicone cupcake holders. By the way... what's up with that super d?

Where did you get your bento box? I can't find one anywhere! Thanks for any info. I live in OK and I think I am going to have to order online. Jen

jenni d: I just ordered my boxes from Ichiban Kan (http://www.ichibankanusa.com/s.nl/sc.7/category.11258/.f). Check out Wendolinia (http://wendolonia.com/blog/2008/07/05/the-week-in-bentos-july-1-3/#comments) for more info on ordering. I also made a Michael's run for the silicone cups and some other accessories (mini cutters, little foil cups, etc.). Good luck. I hope you are inspired too. We eat with our eyes first, right?

Wendolonia posted a great summary this week for those people who wonder about having enough time for the preparation. Check it out.
