Last year we received the Artisan Bread Book (Thanks, Pam! Best gift ever.). At first I thought, "Well this is sweet but I'm not much of a baker. It's too precise for me." But then we learned how simple and tasty and completely open to possibility bread making can be. We've barely even deviated from the basic recipe since we love it so much. (And we eat enough veggies to not be concerned with carb loading, so bring it on!) I'm hard-pressed to find a meal that isn't made better with fresh bread.
So, for our close friends and neighbors this year we (really, David) baked bread wreaths for gifting. I coupled it with an amazing Tuscan Seasoning (to be mixed with vinegar and EVOO) for dipping.
Parker helped D with the mixing and shaping--adding a very important dash of love. And my other little elves delivered the fresh warm bread. I can't confirm it but I believe there may have been some doorbell ditching involved. 'Tis the season?
Jesus replied, "I am the bread of life. No one coming to me will ever be hungry again."

The bread and the Tuscon seasoning are a great idea! I think I still might have time to bake some loaves this year! What recipe do you use for the seasoning?
I didn't make my own herb mix because I have one I just love. It's Tuscan Seasoning from Victoria Taylor's Seasonings. I got mine at a local oil and vinegar bar but you can pick some up online (www.vgourmet.com). Who doesn't love bread with wonderful dipping oil?!
Thanks for the heads up on Victoria Gourmet! I thought I would just order the Tuscan seasoning-but I ordered quite a few more! Thanks and have a great New Year!
