Sew What

Sunday, June 14, 2009
It's not Project Runway but I completed my first gown. Alright, it's a doll's hospital gown, but it doesn't diminish the accomplishment. My MIL is visiting and got roped into kick starting summer hobbies around here. Lucky for me she's a very fine seamstress coach.

We spent a good deal of time getting to know my machine and working out a few kinks and then made our own pattern for a hospital gown for Ruthie (The back story on this is that Anna has been 'injured' a lot lately and we decided that maybe her talents could be put to better use by aiding the sick and injured instead of feigning invalid herself.).

In case you are not very impressed with my first sit down at the sewing machine, please note the mask can also be a blindfold or night mask or a hair tie. There is a lot of versatility here.

In all seriousness, I am motivated to go back and keep at it. This sewing can be a fun and rewarding hobby.

Great first try!! Before you know it you'll be making Halloween costumes and recital outfits!
