A very fond memory I have from my childhood is celebrating Christmas with my Nana on Christmas Eve. Every year she gifted books (one she even wrote herself). My cousins were not as excited to receive her non-toy sentiments but I loved the treasures she came upon and carefully considered for each recipient. She thought books had a longer life than a trendy toy that would be passe in a month.

As an adult, I often follow my Nana's lead and am a big book gifter. I love to gift a journey, and that's what many books are.
You may have seen these lists from the New York Times. My shopping is about complete for this year but I have my eye on Allie Finkle's Rules for Girls to read with Anna.
Our White House: Looking In, Looking Out might be fun for January's Inaugural discussions.
What are some of your favorite books to gift this year?

You know us and Pirates...., well the new one I found is "The Pirates Night before Christmas". It couldn't be cuter. Our Elf will bring it early, probably this weekend.
