Since we don't host Thanksgiving our New Year's Eve tradition includes a roasted turkey and fabulous dinner. We have an open house for whoever wants to brave the roads and join us (We think NYE is 'rookie night' and not a night we care to be out).
Here's what we're cooking up:
Roasted shrimp cocktail
Nut medley
Nut medley
Cheese board
Creamy mashed potatoes
Green bean saute
Cranberry and feta with greens
Fresh loaf
We have silver stars cut out from cardstock paper. We can write our wishes for the coming year and then make a garland. When you wish upon a star...
Since the kiddos are still young and we are getting old, we will ring in 2009 East Coast Time (we are in California). That is still considered a late night for my kids. I like Martha's adaptation of the Spanish custom of eating 12 grapes at midnight for good luck all year long. We will certainly be popping these!
The husband is a big pancake lover so this is what our breakfast will likely look like.

That's sounds like delicious food. Yum. The pancakes are cute.
Sounds like the perfect night. I haven't quite mastered the party for the kids yet. Hopefully I can come up with something fun for tonight.
I want to go!! Have fun!
