I'm loving this craft! It's a make your own puzzle which is fun and really two crafts in one. (First the kids make the picture, then they assemble the puzzle of the picture.) But what I really love is that I can help with number recognition, math or whatever your child needs some refreshing on.
I'm loving this craft! It's a make your own puzzle which is fun and really two crafts in one. (First the kids make the picture, then they assemble the puzzle of the picture.) But what I really love is that I can help with number recognition, math or whatever your child needs some refreshing on.For Anna, we practiced number recognition and ordering with straight forward number matching. I added a little to Christopher's version and had him practice his math. So instead of square #5 matching square #5. I did 2+3 for square #5, etc.
I think I can get a lot of life out of this craft. The kids love it because it's their art. It could be good for a party starter. For travel, I will turn some photos into a coloring page, have them color that and then make the puzzle. I will do a few pictures myself with secret messages for the kids to be unveiled when waiting gets the better of us. You get the idea.

I'm going to have to try this one. Very cute.
What kind of materials do you use? Just paper glued to cardboard?
I just used cardstock paper and scissors. We didn't glue them down because the kids wanted a chance to do them again. I think you could just use regular paper or even construction paper. Anything goes!
