Shoo fly!

We live in Southern California near the beach and are lucky to have a nearly perfect climate most of the time. We get a nice breeze and rarely have to run the air conditioner. I like to open up our house, especially when the kids are playing outside. The problem, however, is the flies. They are horrendous! We haven't even gotten into peak fly season and they are already a nuisance.
